Meet the new District Governor, John King, August 22, 2007, during his visit to our club.
 

John King has been a Rotarian since November 17, 1972 and is a member of Phoenix Rotary 100. He has served as president, secretary and the Chair of various committees As the Chair of the Benefactor Committee he increased the number of benefactors by more than fifty percent. He has also served on the Benefactor Committee for the District.

John is a Benefactor, multiple Paul Harris fellow and Paul Harris Centurion.

John was born and raised in West Virginia. He graduated from West Virginia University and the Harvard Law School. He was recommended by the law school and served as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco. He then spent two years in the U. S. Army as an intelligence officer, finishing his military career as the commanding officer of an intelligence unit at Fort Bragg, N C.

John came to Phoenix in 1965 and was in the private practice of law for thirty years. He then served as Director of the Arizona Insurance Department and Deputy Commissioner of the Real Estate Department. He also has served in the Arizona legislature from central Phoenix and Chairman of the Phoenix Planning Commission.

John has one son, George, who is also a lawyer.
