In this week's meeting we had the pleasure of Bo & Brennan from Mohave County Parks to share with us about the updates and changes going on with the Parks.
As many of us know, there have been a lot of feelings about the Parks management but luckily Bo and Brennan are new and have a passion to make the Parks better! Bo joined Mohave County Parks just 6 weeks ago. He was the CEO of the Bullhead City Chamber. And Brennan joined the Parks only 3 months ago. With some fresh eyes and passion they have big dreams for the parks.
Their big dreams came as a relief to our own Rotarian Ryan who has such passion for our parks especially for Camp Levi Levi in the Hualapai Mountains. He was quite passionate in his discourse with Bo and Brennan, but they were grateful that people care so much!
Bo and Brennan shared they are drafting up ways to make the park passes better and closer to the way like a Ski Pass works. As well all know that in order to improve the parks they do need a revenue, and they want to make the parks an even greater destination point.
They have started already making improvements, they have started with some cosmetic updates at Davis Camp in Bullhead. They are also working on staffing and rental capacities there and the Hualapai Mountains to entice more people to come visit and stay a night or more to enjoy the lovely parks!
They also are apart of the driving force to get the Rotary Rec 3 project moving! As we donated money to the project that the Rt 66 Rotary Group is spearheading to improve the facilities in the Hualapai Mountains. There may even be volunteer opportunities to help with this project once they are working on it.
In addition to the Rec 3 volunteer opportunities they are looking at additional ways to have the community help with the clearing of some areas and collection of some chopped wood in the future with an easy permit pass.
They did mention there is a Parks & Trails commission that is restarting, however I wasn't able to locate anything on their website, but once I find that I will ensure I share that with the group so anyone who is passionate can show up with their passion there to make our parks an even greater place to be!
Below are links to the Parks website to see what parks they manage and information on them and how to buy an annual pass. The passes are $65 annually currently, however if you happen to be over 65 years young then it is only $35.
