On April 15th we had student Rotarian Nicole Seville from Kingman High School.
Nicole's presentation was “How music brings communities together”. Nicole is a drums major in the marching band. She has been in marching band for all 4 years of high school.
She said Band helped her blossom into who she is today. It taught her communication, patience, and leadership.
She has done special events for the VFW for their annual Pearl Harbor remembrance day.
Fun moment: Randy recognized her from playing the night before at Manzanita with band playing with the younger kids. She then even played for us. She was great!
Her plans for the future: Attending NAU for her Bachelors in Business Administration with a minor in music. She is auditioning for the NAU school of music too.
The Boys & Girls Club
On April 22nd we did a brown bag lunch at the Boys & Girls Club located on Airway.
We learned that they officially opened February 2025 and they are already at their capacity in their current space. Our branch is the largest one in all of Arizona. They service 165 youth and 40 teens (ages 5-17 enrolled in school) for after school programs and summer programs. They also have already hit halfway to capacity for summer 2026.
The Boys & Girls club of the Valley has 31 locations in Phoenix valley and 3 regional locations of Yuma, Apache Junction and Kingman.
We took a tour of the facility and they offer an array of programs for the students. They had 3d printing machines, sports areas, gaming areas, and quiet areas. Overall the facility was incredible.
They are also always looking for volunteers to support these amazing programs.
