Today we had our teacher of the Month, Mr. Colby Thomas from Kingman High School. Mr. Thomas works with EDP or Behavioral at-risk youth at the high school. He has been working in the Special Education arena even before he started at KHS in 2020.
He previously was working at an agency that worked with the high school students, however through his time there he learned that he wanted to connect more with the students on a daily basis. That is what began his career at KHS. He started as a paraeducator in the Special Education department and has worked his way to being a teacher and oversees the EDP students at KHS.
His main focus for the students is getting them to learn how they are going to transition from high school to real life. He has the students write individualized transition plans and they set goals on how to accomplish them.
In addition they work with outside agencies for these students such as Terros and Southwest Behavioral. One of Mr. Thomas' recent accomplishments is that his classroom has assed the very vigorous state visit. His Principal was extremely proud of the work he puts into these students.
We were so fortunate to hear about Mr. Thomas and his passion for his work and students.
The Los Amigos Project

The Los Amigos Project is bringing donated emergency and service vehicles from Alberta Canada to communities in Mexico to support local public services. They left on Wednesday morning for Nogales, AZ before making their final destination in Mexico.
