Program

Larry Thornton and Scott Moon

Moon invited Larry Thornton, President of the Route 66 Rotary Club, to speak to us about the Rotary Foundation.

Larry gave a great overview of the history of the Rotary Foundation and its components. The education component of the Foundation is comprised of student scholarships, GSE team sponsorships, teacher grants Rotary World Peace Fellowships, and the Peace and Conflict Study Program. The Foundation also supports various humanitarian components including Reverse Matching Grants, Polio eradication, the District Simplified Grant, and Disaster Recovery.

Larry explained that the Foundation is funded through Benefactors, Paul Harris Fellows, and sustaining Paul Harris Fellows. To learn more about the Foundation, how it is funded and how you can become a sustaining Paul Harris fellow, see the Rotary International Website.

Announcements

  • Inspired by Larry's revisiting of the Foundation, our very own William donated $425 today toward getting some of the newer members on their way to Paul Harris Fellow status. WOW! Thanks William! Now let's see everyone become sustaining Paul Harris Fellows!
  • Please don't forget to pay your quarterly dues before the end of April. Having this information in before the end of April will help us with our annual tax prepration and next year's budgeting.
  • Our Rotary installation for the new year has been scheduled for January 29 at the Hualapai Recreation Area #3. Please mark this date on your calendar. More details will be available soon.

Thanks

Thank you to all of the members that helped with duties!
