Rick invited Mohave County SheriffTom Sheahan to speak for his program. Tom began his law enforcement career in 1971 and was elected to the position of Mohave County Sheriff in 1996. He has been re-elected each term since then and is up for re-election again soon.

Tom spoke to us about some of the impacts of Arizona's illegal immigration issue. Beyond the obvious economic concerns of illegal immigrants receiving untaxed or miminally taxed paychecks and sending money over the borders, Tom spoke about several other fiscal impacts of the issue. He discussed how he believes the meth problem in Mohave County has been altered and exacerbated by the influx of illegal immigrants, how criminal elements of illegal immigrants are increasing pressure on the criminal justice and law enforcement system, and the impact on the public safety and medical costs.

Thank you Tom and Rick for the informative presentation! Tom Sheahan
