"Arizona Highways"

JC invited Rance Spurlock of ADOT to give us a rundown on area projects and their statuses. Here is a quick rundown:

 
  • Hoover dam has 8 to 9 of the 22 arch pieces in place. Pavement on roadways leading up to bridge completed ahead of schedule due to towers collapsing. Scheduled completion 12/2010.
  • 93 between dam and existing four lane - $71.3 million contract ( which is about $6 million less than previously projected) awarded to FNF. "Kick off" to be on 12/18/09 with a scheduled completion of 12/2010 hopefully in conjunction with dam completion.
  • 93 south of 40 to Phoenix. Working on finishing up four lanes between 40 and Wikeup. Once those stretches are complete they will start 4 lane expansion from the Santa Rosa river to Wickenburg. No completion date given.
  • Pavement restoration on I-40 thru Kingman scheduled for fiscal year 2010.
  • Rattlesnake Wash interchange in the five year fiscal plan and is in the "Design" phase. Schedule completion by 2013.
  • Beale Street exit realignment is in the "pre-design" phase and there are 5 to 6 potential alternatives being looked at with public input.
  • Realignment of 95 between I-40 and 68 still being worked on as well as the realignment of 95 Between I-40 and south side of Lake Havasu City.
